The Library of the Institute of Microbiology Paulo de Góes is part of the Library and Information System of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ. The library works in accordance with the goals of the Library System, integrating itself with the educational and administrative policies of the university.

The Library and Information System supports the teaching, research and extension programs, stimulates technical-scientific collaboration between researchers and develops services and products that meet the requirements of significance and of the information treatment policies. The unit itself is located in the Center of Sciences and Health (CCS), but administratively it is subordinated to the Board of the IMPG.

The Library collection is specialized in Microbiology and related areas, and consists of books, monographs, dissertations and theses, as well as providing access to databases. Its users are researchers, and the academic and administrative bodies of the university.
